April Program: Birds of Iceland (free and open to all)

  • Port Townsend Community Center 620 Tyler Street Port Townsend, WA, 98368 United States (map)

Johanna King will share photos and tales of her 2016 visit. She saw 70 species, including the Gyr Falcon, the Barnacle Goose, and the Eurasian Oystercatcher. Most were in breeding plumage, and were courting, sitting on eggs, or tending chicks.

Highlights included hundreds of Northern Fulmars on one side of a small boat and humpback whales on the other, thousands of nesting Northern Gannets, various auks, Black-legged Kittiwakes, and a Rock Ptarmigan changing from winter to summer plumage.
