This year’s Christmas Bird Count has a few more volunteer slots. One or two people are needed for one route in Port Townsend downtown to just short of Fort Townsend. These volunteers do not need to be well versed in birding identification, you would go with a crack birder. We could use one more person for a Chimacum Irondale Hadlock route who has an average birding identification skill. Birders should be fairly agile and are asked to commit to a full day of birding.
We also need Feeder Watchers – specifically people willing to bird only their properties/feeders that are not visible from public streets (we don’t want duplication of birds with the walking groups peering at your front yard feeders). We also will ask that you provide your exact address, so that we can detect inadvertent overlap of counting.
Thank you for considering joining us this year. If we get a ton of response from this call for help please be aware that we may not be able to place everybody who offers. Please get back to Monica Fletcher, at monicaflet@gmail.com, or 360-379-3136 NO LATER than Tuesday, December 13th, as COUNT WEEK begins the next day and checking email is last on the list.
